Even a single neuron may be able to produce significant lognormal features in 21 its firing statistics due to noise in the charging ion current. A mathematical scheme 22 introduced in advanced nanotechnology is relevant for the analysis of this mechanism in 23 the simplest case, the integrate-and-fire model with white noise in the charging ion 24 current. 25 26 27 In a recent review [1] the wide occurrence of lognormal-like distributions in the structural 28 organization parameters and the firing rate of neurons were surveyed and their assumed 29 functionalities were explored. It was assumed that the lognormal distribution of firing 30 rates is the consequence of the specially organized circuit connectivity and the high 31 complexity of the nervous system. 32

Functional Interaction between the Shell Sub-Region of the Nucleus Accumbens and the Ventral Tegmental Area in Response to Morphine: an Electrophysiological Study
This study has examined the functional importance of nucleus accumbens (NAc)-ventral tegmental area (VTA) interactions. As it is known, this interaction is important in associative reward processes. Under urethane anesthesia, extracellular single unit recordings of the shell sub-region of the nucleus accumbens (NAcSh) neurons were employed to determine the functional contributions of the VTA to...

Cortical synaptic strengths vary substantially from synapse to synapse and exhibit a skewed distribution with a small fraction of synapses generating extremely large depolarizations. Using multiple whole-cell recordings from rat hippocampal CA3 pyramidal cells, we found that the amplitude of unitary excitatory postsynaptic conductances approximates a lognormal distribution and that in the prese...

Introduction: The most common interpretation for the mechanisms of antidepression is the increase of the brain monoamine levels such as dopamine (DA). The increase of DA can reduce depression but it can also decrease the monoamine release because of autoreceptor inhibition. Although bupropion can decrease the dopamine release, there is evidence about stimulatory effects of chronic application o...

Market demand of the perishable bakery products are volatile. Hence, demand of such items are random variable. The most appealing demand distribution of such items is lognormal demand distribution. Using historical data, the parameters of lognormal distribution are obtained. But, there is a problem of overestimation or underestimation of the parameters. Fuzzy triangular numbers are used to ov...
